DUI and License Restoration

Grand Rapids, Michigan OUI/DUI/OUIL Defense Lawyers

Getting stopped and arrested for drunk driving is only the beginning of a long process that can result in a driver's license suspension or revocation or even jail time. At Damon, Ver Merris, Boyko & Witte, PLC, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, we are committed to providing honest legal advice and ethical legal representation to people charged with OWI and those who have had their driver's license suspended or revoked.

Honest Drunk Driving Defense Attorneys

Being stopped, arrested, and charged with OUI/DUI/OUIL can be a confusing experience. For many people, it is their first involvement with the legal system, and many people assume there is no way to fight an OUI/DUI/OUIL charge. This is not true. However, the attorney you select to handle your case is important. Our lawyers understand how to evaluate the evidence in drunk driving cases. We know when to fight a charge and when to try to minimize the consequences of a conviction.

Multiple drunk driving convictions result in increased legal and civil penalties. A first offense can result in jail time, a thirty day hard driver's license suspension, and five months of restrictive driving. That is for a first offense. Multiple offenses can result in five or more years in prison and mandatory vehicle immobilization. In all OUI/DUI/OUIL cases, where proper legal procedures were followed, our objective is to reduce the charges against our client to prevent the harsh penalties associated with multiple OUI/DUI/OUIL charges.

Driver's License Reinstatements

In addition to handling DUI/OUI cases, we work with people who have had their driver's license suspended or revoked get their license reinstated. In many cases people are granted a restricted driver's license prior to having their license reinstated. If your license has been revoked due to a DUI/OUI conviction, it is not automatically reinstated once you reach your eligibility date. A license reinstatement must be requested through the Driver's License Appeal Division (DLAD) and having a good lawyer can make all the difference.
